* Source - Overdrive 2001 Monocoque Body  In the event of a collision, the impact is distributed throughout the vehicle body. The affected portion of the body collapses progressively along the in-built crumple zones. This enables the car to absorb the shock and saves passengers from injuries. The monocoque body also makes the car extremely light, which contributes towards higher-fuel efficiency and a quicker pick-up. Baleno's side impact beams are made of heavy-duty steel tubing. This combined with thicker door construction and reinforced cross members provide extra protection for the cabin and its occupants in the event of side collision.
Braking Technology The front wheels have 13" ventilated disc brakes and the rear wheels have 8" self-adjusting drum brakes. The front and rear brakes force distribution is well balanced by a dual proportioning valve for stable braking even under high-speed panic conditions.
Individual brakes employ a large 9-inch vacuum booster in the master cylinder to reduce pressure on the brake pedal. This increases the braking performance tremendously. Collapsible Steering Wheel The steering column is collapsible in nature and reduces the likelihood of injury to the driver in the event of a frontal collision. Anti Submarining Effect The front seats have been designed to provide anti submarining effect. This combined with a reinforced structure of the lower part of the seat and the angle on the base of the seat, ensures that the occupant does not slide forward in the event of an impact.  Rear Window Demister The rear window comes fitted with a demister to improve visibility for the driver especially during heavy showers & foggy conditions. There is also a high mounted rear stop lamp to provide advance warning to vehicles following from behind.

For a more personalised driving position the Baleno comes with a standard seat height adjuster for the front seats, while the rear seat employs a fold-down seatback. All the seats have been designed to provide high levels of comfort and safety. The driver seat has thick cushioning and spring mounted mats. It also comes with a height adjuster to find the right driving position that is required. The front seats are also fitted with adjustable head restraints, which adds to safety of the passenger. The rear passenger seats are designed to be comfortable with the same thick cushioning and spring mounted mats that take the strain out of long journeys. The rear passenger seat comes with a collapsible armrest.

 The contemporary instrument panel of the Baleno effortlessly incorporates the ergonomic design, which ensures a wide and unobstructed view of the road ahead. The instrument panel is rounded towards the driver to create an independent cock-pit feel.The dashboard houses a glove box large enough to hold A4 size magazine. Additional storage space is provided in the form of console pockets and front door pockets on both sides.

The Baleno's raised rear design conceals a spacious boot that houses 346 liters of space. The boot lid is cut down to bumper level for trouble free loading and unloading. The boot also has a trunk light, which comes on when the trunk lid is opened and remains on as long as you keep the lid open. |
